IMPORTANT NOTICE

To: horse owners and trainers

Upon the recommendations of the Nevada Department of

Agriculture’s State Veterinarian, Dr. JJ. Goicoechea and the

Nevada Gaming Control Board’s State Veterinarian, Dr. Richard

Scott, all horses entered to participate at approved pari-

mutual race tracks in Nevada must first provide a negative

Piroplasmosis test. Piroplasmosis is caused by Theleria equi

and has emerged in the racing industry in recent years.

A negative cELISA test, within the last 12 months, for

Theleria equi will be required for all racehorses.

No horse will be allowed to enter unless a current health

certificate, a negative test for Equine Infectious Anemia, and

a negative test for Thelerial equi are on file with the racing

secretary.

The health certificate is valid for 30 days when it is made

by a licensed veterinarian in the state where the examination

was completed. Equine Infectious Anemia and Piroplasmos

tests are valid for twelve (12) months from the date of sample

collection.

•    All horses must be tattooed. We DC) NOT guarantee a tatooer will be on the premises,

•    NO cheek will be issued without the owner's social security number or tax identification the number on file at the racing office,

•    Sawdust and wood shavings are the only bedding for stalls!
